When Life Breaks You, God Can Restore

When Life Breaks You, God Can Restore

Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the thoughts I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a hope and a future.”

When I was young, my dreams were limitless—love, purpose, impact. I believed life was meant to be meaningful. But as time passed, reality set in bills, heartbreak, regrets. Those dreams began to fade, and I started calling it “being realistic.” Deep down, though, I knew I’d lost sight of why I was created.

I believe this message applies powerfully to believers today because it speaks to the universal experience of disappointment, lost dreams, and the temptation to settle for less than God’s best. Many people start out with big hopes for their lives—seeking love, purpose, and impact—but as challenges arise, it’s easy to lose sight of God’s promises and settle for “realistic” expectations.

In searching for fulfillment, I chased things that ultimately left me empty and broken. My dreams slipped away, and hopelessness crept in. I’m reminded of the woman at the well—how Jesus spoke to her heart, revealing that true hope isn’t found in people or possessions, but in Him, the living water. (John 4:7-10)

The message from Jeremiah 29:11 is that God’s plans are always for our good, to give us hope and a future—even when circumstances seem bleak. Like the woman at the well, believers may look for fulfillment in things that ultimately leave them empty, but Jesus offers true satisfaction and meaning.

The “BUT ‘4’ GOD” collection is a declaration that, no matter how broken or hopeless life may feel, God is still at work. He brings beauty from brokenness, purpose from pain, and redemption from regret. With God, nothing is wasted, and every story can have a new beginning. For believers today, this means holding on to faith, continuing to dream, and trusting that God is not finished writing their story.
